About Us

Sutton Living is about creating high quality, well designed homes across the borough of Sutton. The new homes will be available for rent at market and sub market rates, and also for sale, either on the open market or for shared ownership. We are also acquiring a large number of existing homes in Sutton to let to local people in housing need.

Sutton Living is a limited company and is able to respond competitively to deliver new housing solutions. Sutton Living reflects Sutton Council’s proactive approach to growth and can explore development and investment opportunities in the areas that genuinely benefit the Borough.

We are run by a small, experienced team of non-executive directors, plus a managing director, finance director and two development project managers.


THE BOARD OF SUTTON LIVING LTD

SLL’s Board consists of five directors – the Managing Director, plus four Non-Executive Directors. As a whole, the Board is collectively responsible for promoting the success of the Company and ensuring its compliance with all legal and regulatory obligations by directing and supervising the Company’s affairs.

SIR STEVE BULLOCK

Non-Executive Chair
Steve is the Chair of SLL’s Board. He retired as Lewisham’s directly-elected mayor in May 2018 after serving four terms. Since 2010 he had been serving as the London Councils’ Executive lead on Housing and the Mayor of London’s Homes for Londoners Board. Following his retirement Sir Steve was appointed as the Representative Deputy Lieutenant for Lewisham.He is also Chair of LB Sutton’s ALMO, Sutton Housing Partnership.

SIMON LATHAM

Non-Executive Director, Council Nominee
Simon is a founding Director of the company and brings a wealth of housing and regeneration experience to Sutton Living. He’s currently Assistant Director, Housing, Planning and Regeneration at Sutton Council and has been a senior executive for several local authorities with responsibility for leading on complex regeneration schemes.

STEVE ALEPPO

Non-Executive Director
Finance Portfolio

Steve is a CIMA-qualified accountant with 20 years’ experience in the housing sector. Until last year, Steve was Finance Director (Investment and Commercial) at Sovereign HA, but is now employed as Executive Director of Finance and Governance at Eastlight Homes in Essex.

KERRY HEATH

Non-Executive Director, Development and Sales Portfolio
Kerry has an MA in Housing Studies and is a member of both the CIH and RICS. She has been with Hexagon HA since 2007 holding the position of Development and Sales Director since 2017. SInce 2018, Kerry has been an Independent Board Member of Phoenix Community Housing & Home Makers.


SUTTON LIVING’S MANAGEMENT TEAM

MICHELLE THOMAS

Managing Director
The Managing Director is responsible to the Board for the delivery of the company’s strategies and the development programme. Day-to-day management of the company rests with the managing director, including hiring of staff within the approved organisation structure and budget.

Michelle is an established housing professional with an Honours degree in Housing and  35 years’ experience with Housing Associations, local authorities and LHCs, mainly in affordable housing development, regeneration and asset management. Before joining SLL, she was MD of Oxford City Council’s wholly owned company, OX Place. She is also Vice Chair of a rural housing association in the south west of England.

FIRAS AL-SHEIKH

Finance Director
The Finance Director is a key member of Sutton Living’s Management Team and has responsibility for overseeing and leading on all of the Company’s finance functions to support and grow the business.

Firas has an MSc in International Finance and is a member of CPFA and ACA. He joined SLL from LB Ealing where he was Finance Manager – Strategic Investments, Planning and Projects and represented both the Council and its subsidiary. Firas was the finance lead for the Council’s housing and development subsidiary companies and major capital projects.

NEIL EDWARDS

Development Project Manager
The Development Project Manager has responsibility for overseeing and leading on all of the Company’s development projects and identifying new business opportunities to grow the business. 

Neil has over 30 years’ experience in the residential housing sector. He has managed the delivery of many new housing schemes including Joint Ventures, new build and regeneration schemes in urban and rural settings.

ROGER O’SULLIVAN

Stock Acquisition Project Manager
The Stock Acquisition Project Manager has responsibility for overseeing and leading on the acquisition of existing homes from both LB Sutton and also off the open market in order to grow the business. 

Roger most recently worked for Sutton Housing Partnership before moving across to Sutton Living to work as lead on stock acquisitions. He is a member of the CIH and has had extensive experience of running housing management, facilities and maintenance contracts in both the UK and New Zealand with Pinnacle PSG, including having overall operational responsibility for all Housing Management and Facilities contracts for the group.
